Univision wins the Gawker auction, agrees to purchase the network for $135M

Today, TV network and digital publisher Univision has agreed to pay $135 million to purchase Gawker Media. The deal encompasses all seven Gawker properties: Gawker.com, Lifehacker, Deadspin, Gizmodo, Jalopnik, Jezebel, and Kotaku. In the end, the bidding came down to two parties: Ziff Davis and Univision. Reports suggest Ziff Davis had offered $90 million to purchase the bankrupt website network. According to Gawker Media owner Nick Denton: Gawker Media Group has agreed this evening to sell our business and popular brands to Univision, one of America’s largest media companies that is rapidly assembling the leading digital media group for millennial and multicultural audiences.…
